COLLABORATIONS

The Spalding Lab is currently part of two Karolinska Institutet strategic research centres: the Strategic Research Program in Diabetes and StratRegen. Via these research centres we get access to important core facilities and expert networks. Apart from these collaborations the Spalding Lab publishes together with several talented groups across the world.

STRATEGIC RESEARCH PROGRAM IN DIABETES

SRP Diabetes is based on several different research groups at Karolinska Institutet and Umeå University. An integrated research environment in the diabetes area has been formed where results are translated between basic and clinical science with the aim to improve the care and treatment of people with diabetes.

STRAT-REGEN

StratRegen is a strategic research area in stem cell research and regenerative medicine at Karolinska Institutet, supported by the Swedish government through the program for strategic research areas (SFO).

Stem cells play an important role in the development of tissues, and for maintenance and regeneration of tissues in adulthood. Research in this field is rapidly expanding our understanding of these processes. Stem cell therapies are established in clinical medicine for malignant as well as for non-malignant conditions and novel therapies are continuously developed and entered in preclinical and clinical trials.
